WHAT IS GLASS FIBER POOL KILN DRAWING?

Glass fiber production processes mainly include crucible wire drawing method and pool kiln wire drawing method. Crucible wire drawing method has many processes, but has the disadvantages of high energy consumption, unstable molding process, and low labor productivity. It has been eliminated by large manufacturers. The pool kiln wire drawing method is to first melt pyrophyllite and other raw materials into a glass solution in a kiln, and then transport it to a porous leaking plate through a channel after removing air bubbles, and then draw it into a glass fiber precursor at high speed. This process is simple, energy-saving, Stable molding, high efficiency and high yield have become the international mainstream production process.

Glass fiber (original name in English: glass fiber or fiberglass) is an inorganic non-metallic material with excellent performance. Brittle, poor wear resistance. It is made of glass balls or waste glass through high-temperature melting, wire drawing, winding, weaving and other processes. The diameter of its single filament is several microns to more than 20 microns, which is equivalent to a hair. 1/20-1/5 of that, each bundle of fiber precursors consists of hundreds or even thousands of monofilaments. The glass fiber is often used as reinforcing material of composite material, electrical insulation and heat insulation materials, substrate and other national economy fields.

Its main components are silica, alumina, calcium oxide, boron oxide, magnesium oxide, sodium oxide, etc. According to the alkali content in the glass, it can be divided into alkali-free glass fibers (0% to 2% sodium oxide, which belongs to aluminum Borosilicate glass), medium-alkali glass fiber (sodium oxide 8% to 12%, belongs to boron-containing or boron-free soda-lime silicate glass) and high-alkali glass fiber (more than 13% sodium oxide, belongs to soda-calcium silicate glass) silicate glass).

Raw material and its application: glass fiber has higher temperature resistance than organic fiber, non-combustible, anti-corrosion, good heat insulation and sound insulation, high tensile strength and good electrical insulation. But it is brittle and has poor wear resistance. It is used to make reinforced plastic (see color picture) or reinforced rubber. As a reinforcing material, glass fiber has the following characteristics. These characteristics make the use of glass fiber far more extensive than other types of fibers, and the development speed is also far ahead. The characteristics are listed as follows:

(1) High tensile strength and low elongation (3%).

(2) High elastic coefficient and good rigidity.

(3) The elongation within the elastic limit is large and the tensile strength is high, so the impact energy can be absorbed greatly.

(4) It is an inorganic fiber, which is non-combustible and has good chemical resistance.

(5) Low water absorption.

(6) Dimensional stability and heat resistance are good.

(7) Good processability, can be made into strands, bundles, felts, weaving and other products in different forms.

(8) Transparency allows light to pass through.

(9) The development of a surface treatment agent with good adhesion to resin has been completed.

(10) The price is cheap.

(11) It is not easy to burn, and can be melted into glass beads at high temperature.
